The City of Apache Junction lies about 30 miles east of Phoenix, easily accessible to and from the Phoenix area via the Superstition Freeway. Apache Junction lies at the entrance to two of the most popular recreational areas frequented by Phoenix area locals, the Salt River Lakes and the Superstition Wilderness Area.
Located in Tonto National Forest, Canyon Lake is just 14 miles northeast of downtown Apache Junction at an elevation of 1660 feet. Plenty to do for boaters, swimmers, hikers, and fishers!
Apache and Roosevelt Lakes are just a little farther distant. In addition, there are 34 hiking and equestrian trails in the adjacent Superstition Wilderness Area. Clear blue skies, starry nights, relatively low traffic congestion, and five golf courses within a 10 minute drive are major draws for new and old residents alike, as well as thousands of seasonal residents who "winter" in Apache Junction each year.
