Florence is one of the oldest towns in Arizona founded in 1866. In 1875 it became Pinal County's seat of government. Florence is centrally located at the Junction of U.S. Highway 79 and Arizona 287 just 61 miles from downtown Phoenix and 70 miles from Tucson.
There are over 140 historic buildings in Florence, many of which are constructed of adobe brick. The town strives to strike a balance between preserving the past and preparing for the future.
Florence will be home to a premier master planned community in the beautiful Sonoran Desert. It is being called the next Anthem of Pinal County. The community will inlcude a 18 hole championship golf course, Big Splash Water Park, 43,000 square foot Community Center, jogging trails, bike paths, basketball courts, tot lots, plus other great amenities. Its vision is to create a lifestyle that will allow you to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life while maintaining the small town atmosphere.
Nestled within the master plan community of Anthem at Merrill Ranch lies Poston Butte Golf Club, an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Gary Panks and managed by Troon Golf. Fairway views offer golfers a glimpse of the historic pyramid- shaped fire temple resurrected in the 1800's by Charles Poston on a butte nearby, capturing the spirit of golf in the southwest. Memorable par three holes featuring island greens, stacked stone walls and bunkers stretching from tee to green will captivate players wanting to try it again and again!
